Distance Learning
For the past six years, St. Thomas the Apostle School has implemented a successful distance learning program, connecting teachers with students through the use of technology to allow for classes to continue when circumstances require the school to close. Each day, students meet with their teachers online for class instruction in each of their core subjects through the Google Classroom Platform. In addition to daily online instruction, students have access to a wide-variety of instructional material and curriculum resources, including teacher-created instructional videos and online textbooks for Mathematics, Reading, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Religion. Through the use of Google Classroom, students are able to access supplemental instructional materials as well as complete and submit their daily assignments to their teachers for feedback and grading. The special classes such as Spanish, Music, Art, and Physical Education are represented in Google Classroom along with the General Core Curriculum.
Tools such as ClassWorks, which has been used both in and out of the classroom to provide differentiated instruction, learning materials, and assessments to each of our students, also continues to be used as a part of distance learning.
In this time of medical emergency resulting from COVID-19, which has required schools to close their doors, we at St. Thomas the Apostle School have been able to leverage our established and successful distance learning program to keep the virtual doors of the school open and our students in Pre K3 - Eighth grade learning.
Important:  Please note that the teachers will take attendance every day during their scheduled Religion Classes and every class thereafter.  Attendance will be recorded daily on PowerSchool, as well as reflected in the students’ report cards for the third trimester.
Finally, although technology is an amazing and powerful tool, we understand how frustrating it can be when it is not working properly.  Please know that we are here to help you. Please email the school officed at  at , if you require technical assistance.  For all other concerns, please email your child’s teacher or Mr. Michael Petrillo at
