St. Thomas the Apostle School: Achieve Excellence, Success in Faith-Based Education, Focus on Academic Success

Happy February Everyone, Catholic Schools Week was an amazing week full of Catholicism, buddy activities, energy and passion for all that we do here at St. Thomas the Apostle School. I would be remiss if I didn’t say thank you to our wonderful Home & School Association for all of the activities and smooth transitions, as well as to our Athletic Association for assisting with the volleyball game on Thursday.

I offer a thank you to our faculty and staff who are more than flexible and cooperative with all of the schedule changes and movement during the day. Here at STA we celebrate our Catholic School each and every day of the school year. February will be a month of various activities, traditions, and new learning strategies. Our teachers will focus on Black History Month with various activities, readings, and research projects to identify and remember the pioneers who assisted in shaping our world. Older students will spend time reading to our younger minds about African Americans who really changed the way we live today. In terms of new learning strategies, I am pleased to say that we have entered into the modern age of education.

This past Tuesday our 8th Graders took part in an electronic field trip to view the various aspects of the Manhattan Project. They joined with thousands of students from around the world in this fascinating activity. Speaking of the 8th grade, they have decided on their high school choices for the Fall. Names such as Seton Hall Prep, Paramus Catholic, Mount St. Dominic, St. Mary’s, DePaul, Mother Seton, Immaculate Heart Academy, Immaculate Conception and Bloomfield High School have been heard throughout the halls. I must also add that over 50% of our 8th Graders received substantial scholarships and financial aid. Our 8th Graders now are preparing for their next tradition, their school dance, which takes place next Thursday. February will be a quick month full of plenty of activities and excitement. Please be on the lookout for our Tricky Tray which will be taking place in April. So much fun and excitement is taking place in our great school and as always I thank all of you for your constant efforts and support.
