St. Thomas the Apostle School: Achieve Excellence, Success in Faith-Based Education, Focus on Academic Success
Happy December Everyone, The month of November brought us many things to be thankful for such as our family, friends, and our school community. A special thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time, talent and hospitality with making sure our annual Thanksgiving Feast was a huge success. There were more than a fair share of stuffed students and faculty after this glorious event. A special thank you to Fr. Larry for leading our students and enjoying the celebration along with us. Our students showed how they were thankful in a variety of ways. Kindergarten students made turkeys out of plates and students created thankfulness poems and essays, making the spirit of being thankful ever present and in our school. A special congratulations is in order for the students on our Robotics Team. Devin Andress, Carter Courtney, Diana Prisco, Regina Salandra, Garan Salandy, and Camille Schiralli competed over the weekend of November 23rd in Clifton High School and placed in the top percentile of the competition. This success qualified them for the state tournament in Flanders, NJ! Their coach, Mrs. Almeida, along with young alumni volunteers Tristan Courtney, Nathan Courtney, Sean Hopkins, Aidan Salandy, and Colin Salandy guided them to victory! December is a month of many traditions in our school community.
The 8th Grade students will begin to shed some tears as they will be taking their graduation photos and enjoying their big trip to New York City. Every year the 8th grade students attend a Broadway show, this year it is Aladdin. As a bonus the students will have dinner and enjoy some games at Dave and Busters! We are positive that the memories made will last a lifetime. I would like to recognize the talent of our great music instructor Mrs. Stella Oh, who while she practices with our students for the Christmas Concert and their concerts during the year has a wonderful event during the month of December. Mrs. Oh will be performing with Andrea Bocelli at Madison Square Garden with her choir group on December 18th and 19th. We are so proud of what she has accomplished along with the accomplishments of all of our students, faculty and staff. Students throughout the school know that the month of December is a very special time!
This month there will be several activities taking place, such as the Santa Shop (December 9 th-10th), Christmas Concert (December 11th), Santa Breakfast (December 14th) and the Band Concert (December 16th). To say it will be active around the halls would be an understatement. Please be sure to check the calendar and announcements for all pertinent information.
From all of us here at St. Thomas the Apostle School we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Mr. Petrillo, M.Ed.
