My Name is Kim Kopacz and I have been working at St. Thomas since 2011. When I began working here I worked under and assisted Ms Donna Strazza in the pre school 3-4 class. When the program split into two separate classes, I took on the lead teacher position in the pre school 3 classroom. I am a life long Bloomfield resident. I graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1991. While in High School I took part in the Early Childhood education program. This is where I first knew I wanted to teach and work with young children. After High School I attended Union County College for two years and then went on to an alternative program at Kean college where I received my certification for group teaching for infants and toddlers. I also hold a paraprofessional certification.
I’ve always worked in early childhood education. I worked for Summit Child Care Center while attending School. Then I worked for the Newark Public schools at Newark Technical School, where we began a daycare program for Teen mothers. I then worked for Hoffman LaRoche daycare center in the Pre School 3 classroom.
After I was married I took some time off from working to raise my family. I have 2 sons, Christopher and Nicholas. Both of my boys attended St Thomas the apostle. My youngest son still attends STA and my oldest is now in BHS.
